Weddings

The Chapel

KMC’s beautiful stone Chapel is a very popular, intimate and sought-after wedding venue. It can comfortably accommodate 150 people but still feels ‘full’ with smaller gatherings.

If you would like to get married at KMC, please contact the church office. The following guidelines and regulations apply:

The co-ordination of all practical details will happen through the KMC office. Written confirmation, via email with the church office, of all verbal conversations is required to provide a clear written record of all matters discussed and agreed.

The cost to use KMC for your wedding ceremony is currently R5000. This amount is for the use of the church only and does not include the costs of the minister’s services. For these, please speak directly to the minister who will be conducting the ceremony.

Typically, KMC’s resident minister, who is a licensed marriage officer, conducts all weddings at KMC. Ministers, pastors and priests from other churches within the Church Unity Commission – which comprises the Methodist, Anglican, Presbyterian and Congregational churches – are welcome to conduct weddings at KMC, by special arrangement, if that is your particular need.

marriage and wedding preparation processes

It is advisable to set up an initial appointment with the minister who will be conducting your ceremony as early in the planning process as possible. This will allow adequate opportunity to discuss the marriage and wedding preparation processes and to deal with all the legal paperwork.

The following documents will be required:

Original SA ID books/cards of both bride and groom, as well as 1 copy each of these.

2 recent ID/Passport photos (black and white or colour) each of both bride and groom.

Copies of divorce agreements (in the case of divorcees).

Copies of death certificates of any deceased spouses (in the case of widows/widowers).

If either party is not a South African citizen or is a minor, further documents will be required.

Copies of the ID books/cards of two people (aged 21 or older) who will be present at the ceremony and will sign the marriage register as witnesses.

Deposit

A deposit of R2500 is required to secure your booking. Should you cancel your booking more than a month before the wedding date, your deposit will be fully refunded. The outstanding balance of R2500 is payable in full no later than fourteen days before the wedding date.

The bank account details to use are as follows:

Bank: FNB
Branch code: 221526
Account name: MCSA Kloof Society
Account number: 50730355001 (current account)
Reference: SurnameSurnameWedding

Flowers

The flowers for our weekly church service on the Sunday following your wedding will be in the Chapel for your wedding ceremony. You are welcome to indicate your preference for the colours and flowers you would like to have in this arrangement, which will be accommodated if possible. You may organize additional flower arrangements of your own if you so wish, that you may take away with you after the ceremony. As there are some restrictions regarding the type and placement of additional flower arrangements, please check-in with the church office before proceeding.

ORGANIST

An organist will be available to play the wedding marches in and out of the Chapel, and provide organ accompaniment for any congregational hymns that you want to be sung. Liaison with the organist, through the church office, is essential to ensure that your music preferences can be accommodated.

sound

A sound-desk operator will be available, should this be required. If you want to play any music over the sound system in the Chapel it is essential that this be discussed timeously with the church office.

Important Information

Please note that the use of paper or rice confetti is strictly prohibited. Throwing flower petals over the bride and groom outside the Chapel is permitted.

The consumption of any alcohol on the church premises is strictly prohibited.

On the day of the wedding, a venue coordinator and a caretaker will be in attendance to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

It is essential that you honour the time booked for your wedding, especially as we sometimes have more than one wedding or other church function scheduled for the same day.
