Our logo
Our logo draws on a number of elements that are unique to KMC and speaks to the ethos of this church:
The stonework within the Chapel and Hall that is a distinctive feature of our physical space.
The different sizes and shapes of the stones represent the rich diversity of the people who come to KMC. Each person who comes here is a Living Stone and a treasured expression of our slogan:
“You are somebody with something to share”
The earthy colours of the stones remind us that we all come from the earth, and bear a particular responsibility for our care of the earth.
The longer stone at the bottom of the logo reminds us of the long line of those who came before us, who with courage and obedience began the work of building this church on the foundation of Christ, to which we now add our contribution. The longer stone at the top of the logo reminds us of the long line of those who will follow after us, who are depending on our faithfulness to stand firm and true.
Emerging out of this togetherness, the cross of Christ can be seen. The cross is at the centre of our shared life. The cross holds us together in our diversity and provides the focus and reason for our existence.
The cross is quite subtle – almost hidden in plain view. This speaks of the theology of the incarnation and the truth that Christ is deeply present in the stories of our ordinary lives and circumstances.

The Kloof Methodist Church, established in 1911, has been rooted in the community of Kloof for well over a century, providing a spiritual home to tens of thousands of people over the years and offering its Christian witness to countless more. It forms part of the Clerpine Circuit of the Natal Coastal Synod of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, which in turn is part of the World Methodist Council, a global affiliation of Methodist churches rooted in the Wesleyan tradition.
